Fundraising + AdminIsTRATIVE Work

Didier started his administrative career working as an Awards Officer for the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and has experience of making a large number of grant awards, in line with organisational policies and procedures. Over the course of ten years he took up other administrative management roles within the research/University sector. He was eventually promoted to Head of Research Office at Roehampton University, a senior Administrative Management role, where he oversaw all staff supporting research administration at the University, including the grants team and staff responsible for internal and external research scholarships and Graduate School. He worked with the most senior staff at the University, including the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Deputy Pro-Vost (Research and Graduate School). In addition to applying for funds, he has been responsible for creating and coordinating application processes for funding, distributing funds and monitoring grants.

Bid writing

Didier has successfully secured funds from a range of public and private sources, including competitively-awarded funds. He has secured funds in his own right as a creative producer, for his businesses, to support charities and to support individuals. Didier has personally been responsible for successful bids to organisations including Arts Council England, PRS Foundation For Music, D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, The Leche Trust, The Michael Tippett Musical Foundation, Lochlands Trust, Finzi Trust, Esme Mitchell Trust, Little Cheyne Court Windfarm Fund, Kent County Council, Creative Folkestone (Roger De Haan Charitable Trust), Folkestone Town Council and more, including corporate donations. Didier has also worked for the Arts & Humanities Research Council as an Awards Officer and on projects funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund. He has manged grants officers, supporting applications to a wide variety of funders. Didier is registered as an Access Support Worker with Arts Council England and can support those who qualify for additional support with funding applications, supporting a variety of tasks - please get in touch if you would like to discuss further. He also undertakes grant application and bid writing on a freelance basis to support charities and artists, and can help produce and develop projects to fruition. Didier has secured funds for Kent Wildlife Trust, Charles Wood Festival of Music & Summer School, Folkestone Pride, London Contemporary Voices, Folkestone Contemporary Folk Festival and a wide range of individual artists, musicians and producers.

Chairing and Committee Support

Didier has substantial experience of committee servicing and panel support, including Chairing. At Roehampton University he was a member of the University’s Research Committee, Enterprise Committee and Ethics Committee. He also held particular responsibility for servicing the Research Staffing Sub-Committee and for Chairing Research Support Staff team meetings. He has previously serviced Research Degrees/Graduate School Committees, as well as exam boards and AHRC funding application/assessment panels. He was regularly required to schedule meetings; research, prepare and present papers; minute meetings and co-ordinate follow-up actions. At Kingston University he was also a member of the Impact Task Group, Communications Committee, the Web Governance group and University’s Week public engagement group. 

Policy, Procedures and Administrative Project Management

As a main contact point for outside organisations he has regularly been required to prepare data, reports and returns, as well as maintain guidance/policy documents for staff, students, volunteers and participants. He has project managed the implementation of new databases, policies, procedures and framework documents. He is aware of good practice with regards to Data Protection and storage and has received training in this area.

Marketing, digital communications and PR

As a creative, Didier enjoys creating campaigns and events. He has gained substantial experience in communications, working closely with PR, web and marketing teams and has received professional training in this area. He had produced publicity brochures, posters and flyers. He has built and maintained websites and has grown social media channels from scratch. He is a confident user of IT, including social media platforms and e-newsletter platforms. He has basic graphic design skills and has also used music technology, film and photo processing software.
